The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has arrested another FSB (Federal Security Service) agent in Kyiv who was gathering intelligence on the Armed Forces and strategic infrastructure of Ukraine. The individual attempted to identify and provide the aggressor with the locations of backup command posts of the Third Assault Brigade and the headquarters of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Additionally, the agent leaked coordinates of key energy and heat-generating enterprises that supply a significant portion of the civil infrastructure of the capital. This information was sought by the aggressor for preparing a new series of targeted strikes on Ukraine's military and critical infrastructure.

At the direction of the Russian special services, the agent also attempted to secure employment at a defense plant in the Kyiv region. To accomplish this task, the perpetrator prepared a resume and submitted it to the personnel department of the strategic enterprise. If successful, the infiltrator planned to gather confidential information about the types and quantities of weapons manufactured at the defense facility.

Security Service operatives uncovered the hostile intentions, documented the criminal activities of the Russian agent, and arrested him during the execution of a reconnaissance mission. The arrested individual is a 52-year-old resident of Kyiv who was remotely recruited by an FSB personnel officer in Moscow in the fall of 2023. The communication between the Kyivan and the FSB representative initially occurred through one of the pro-Kremlin Telegram channels. Subsequently, the FSB representative communicated with his agent in an anonymous chat of a popular messenger.

To identify the locations of potential targets for the enemy, the traitor walked the streets of Kyiv and its outskirts, covertly photographing the "needed" objects. For each completed task, the FSB credited a monetary "reward" to the agent's bank card.

During searches in the detainee's residence, a mobile phone with evidence of correspondence with the aggressor and bank cards receiving Russian funds was seized. Based on the collected evidence, SBU investigators notified the suspect of charges under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed in conditions of war).

The individual is currently in custody, facing the possibility of life imprisonment.
