The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another FSB agent in Kropyvnytskyi. The suspect, a 34-year-old local resident, was leaking the locations and movement routes of the Defense Forces to the Russian forces.
According to SSU counterintelligence, the Russian forces were particularly interested in the positions of air defense systems and the locations of logistics warehouses of the Ukrainian military.
To gather intelligence, the traitor drove around the regional center, trying to locate anti-aircraft missile systems and radar stations of the Armed Forces. If he found military targets, he was instructed to photograph or record them on video and then link the coordinates to Google Maps.
The Russian forces needed this intelligence to prepare a new series of missile and drone strikes on the region, aiming to bypass Ukrainian air defenses.
The suspect also tracked the timing and locations of military convoys moving toward the front line.
To maintain secrecy, the perpetrator frequently changed his reconnaissance routes, disguising his activities as regular walks.
The SSU caught the suspect "red-handed" while he was conducting reconnaissance near a military facility. At the scene, a mobile phone used to photograph the Defense Forces' site was confiscated. The device also contained an anonymous chat on a popular messaging app, which the agent used for communication with the FSB.
The suspect has been charged under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law).
He is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
