The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has detained another FSB agent in the Donetsk region. The individual, a 56-year-old Russian citizen, was found to have been coordinating Russian strikes on the locations of Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Lyman direction.
According to the case materials, the agent arrived in Ukraine from Moscow a few days before the start of the full-scale war, under the pretense of visiting his daughter in the village of Rayhorodok in the Kramatorsk district.
After February 24, 2022, he lived in this village and tried to maintain a low profile.
Available information shows that in the summer of 2024, the FSB "activated" the agent and assigned him the task of gathering intelligence on the positions of Ukrainian Defense Forces on the eastern front.
Subsequently, the Russian began gradually patrolling areas near the front lines, where he tracked the locations of fortifications and artillery positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He summarized the obtained information and periodically sent it to the Russian intelligence service to prepare airstrikes on Ukrainian military positions.
The investigation revealed that the FSB later promised the accomplice his "evacuation" to Moscow.
However, the SSU foiled the Russian plans. Ukrainian security service officers exposed the Russian agent, documented his crimes, and detained him. Comprehensive measures were also taken to secure the Ukrainian military positions.
During the searches, a mobile phone was seized from the detainee, containing evidence of his communications with the Russian intelligence service. The criminal is currently in custody and faces up to 12 years in prison.
