The Security Service has detained two more participants of the FSB agent network, which was uncovered in August this year in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
At that time, SSU counterintelligence apprehended six members of the hostile cell who were coordinating missile and drone attacks from Russia on the region. The main targets of the Russian forces were military and critical infrastructure facilities.
The whereabouts of two more agents from this group have now been established and they have been detained.
They turned out to be a 56-year-old security chief of a local enterprise and a 48-year-old unemployed woman living in the suburbs of Dnipro.
The agents acted separately from each other but were "connected" to a common Russian curator who coordinated the subversive activities of the entire network.
Under his direction, the suspects prepared coordinates for airstrikes on locations of the Defense Forces and facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia involved in the transportation of military equipment and ammunition to the front.
The wrongdoers also tracked the movements of Ukrainian Armed Forces military convoys towards the frontline.
To obtain intelligence, the Russian accomplices patrolled the streets of the regional center and surrounding areas, identifying "necessary" targets.
Subsequently, the agents prepared "reports" that were sent to the FSB in the form of geolocations of potential targets with detailed descriptions.
SSU counterintelligence apprehended both suspects at their places of residence. During the search, mobile phones containing evidence of criminal activity were seized.
SSU investigators have informed the agents of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law). The offenders are in custody without the right to bail. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
