Details have emerged about a new and unique special operation by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU). On the night of December 5-6, a group of SSU maritime drones, Sea Baby, engaged in combat with Russian helicopters, aircraft, and Raptor patrol boats attempting to intercept them.
These waterborne drones were produced through a joint crowdfunding initiative with UNITED24, monobank, Oleg Gorokhovskyi, Serhii Sternenko, and Ihor Lachen earlier this year in February.
The Russian pilots saw themselves as hunters, expecting an easy target, but instead became the prey when the maritime drones returned fire.
The latest Sea Baby drones were equipped with heavy machine guns featuring ballistic programs for automatic targeting and tracking.
Intercepted Russian radio communications confirm casualties and injuries among helicopter crews. The helicopters themselves sustained significant damage, now requiring extensive repairs.
Additionally, the SSU drones struck a barge transporting military equipment and materials for repairing the Crimean Bridge, which Russian forces have unsuccessfully tried to restore after previous attacks by Ukrainian special services.
"Sea Baby is our multi-purpose platform capable of carrying various types of weaponry, from rocket artillery systems to airborne drones and heavy machine guns. The most important thing is that it has once again proven its effectiveness. The results of our work are far greater than we can currently reveal, but everything will come in due time," said the 13th Main Directorate of the SSU’s Military Counterintelligence Department.
