The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has detained another FSB agent in Khmelnytskyi. The suspect, a 37-year-old soldier mobilized into a local military unit, was found to be adjusting missile strikes on Ukraine’s western region on behalf of the Russian forces.
The Russians targeted Defense Forces bases, power substations, and Ukrainian Railways infrastructure.
As an operator of unmanned aerial systems, the infiltrator used standard-issue drones to track potential targets.
Additionally, the agent installed a concealed mini-camera with remote access capabilities for the FSB near a key railway junction in the region. Russian intelligence hoped to use this device to spy on military train movements toward the front line.
The SSU timely uncovered the traitor, documented his crimes, and detained him. Simultaneously, comprehensive measures were taken to secure Defense Forces locations and critical infrastructure sites.
According to SSU cybersecurity experts, the Russian forces remotely recruited the suspect through the banned social network VKontakte.
To communicate with the FSB, the traitor used an anonymous chat in a popular messaging app.
During searches, law enforcement seized mobile phones containing evidence of his contacts with Russian intelligence.
The perpetrator is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
