The Security Service has neutralized an FSB spy network operating in Kyiv and the Kharkiv region. The perpetrators were spying on the locations of the Defense Forces and adjusting Russian airstrikes.

It was established that the leader (resident) of the Russian cell was an engineer employed by the municipal enterprise "Kyiv Metro."

According to the case materials, the official was recruited in 2015 in Moscow during a personal meeting with an FSB officer. His identity has been confirmed by cybersecurity experts from the Security Service.

The recruited agent was placed in "standby mode" and "reactivated" after the start of the full-scale war through messages in a messenger.

He was immediately instructed to create a spy network. The group's task was to collect information about the locations and movement routes of Ukrainian military forces and their cargo, as well as to direct Russian missile and drone attacks on them.

The resident involved his acquaintances in working for the Russian forces: a man from Kharkiv, who left his military unit after mobilization and had worked for 10 years at Ukrzaliznytsia, and a driver of international freight transportation. The deserter's task was to track the movement of Ukrainian military trains, while the driver, under the guise of business trips, was tasked with leaking coordinates of checkpoints and Defense Forces units.

Additionally, it was revealed that the resident's mother and brother were involved in the spy group's activities.

The leader of the spy group received the "necessary" geolocations from his accomplices, summarized them, and sent "reports" to his Russian handler.

According to the investigation, the resident personally directed missile strikes on Kyiv, which is confirmed by his intercepted conversations.

The Security Service employees documented the crimes of the Russian agents and arrested the resident in Kyiv. At the same time, the deserting agent was detained in Kharkiv.

During searches, mobile phones with evidence of working for Russia were seized from the suspects. Firearms were also discovered and sent for examination.

A decision is being made regarding the detention and precautionary measure for the arrested individuals, as well as notifying the third member of the group – the international driver, who is hiding abroad – of suspicion. The perpetrators face from 8 years of imprisonment to life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
