Starting from November 10, a new IT system, the Entry-Exit System (EES), will be implemented in the European Union: the entry procedure for Ukrainians into EU countries will change.
This was announced by the Cabinet of Ministers.
The new system will automatically record the entry and exit of all foreigners to the Schengen zone countries.
Such a system is being introduced to simplify border crossing, enhance security through biometric documents, and prevent the use of false documents. It will also help combat illegal migration.
The system will simultaneously record fingerprints and facial photos of people crossing the border and will store this data for three years: passport stamps will no longer be required.
Registration will occur automatically through self-service terminals.
Therefore, when a person is leaving the country, border guards will first collect biometric data, and if a person refuses to provide it, they will be denied entry.
In subsequent border crossings, individuals will need to scan their passports at the self-service terminal.
The government also emphasized that the new border crossing rules do not mean the cancellation of the visa-free regime.
