MAKHNO Studio announces collaboration with the iconic space of Ukrainian souvenirs and embroidered clothing, People's House of Ukraine (Narodniy Dim Ukraina).

The visionary creators behind the People's House of Ukraine have spent years planning to establish a singular space and shop exclusively for Ukrainian goods. They meticulously searched for a location in the city center and settled on one of Kyiv's oldest streets, Yaroslaviv Val. With a strong patriotic stance and a desire to explore and promote Ukrainian culture, the owners have crafted a unique venue where the spirit of antiquity and traditions intertwines with modern trends. Today, the People's House of Ukraine primarily focuses on selling gifts and souvenirs, continually expanding its assortment with unique and handmade pieces.

When the idea emerged to redesign the premises according to modern trends while preserving the value of Ukrainian tradition, Studio MAKHNO was chosen to bring this vision to life.

MAKHNO Studio is among the most prominent representatives of contemporary Ukrainian architects and designers, with a portfolio spanning over 600 projects across 25 countries and numerous international awards. The studio continues to innovate traditional approaches within the context of modernity, creating objects that bridge cultural tradition and contemporary art.

Currently, the project team presents their vision for the future of the People's House of Ukraine in a modern Ukrainian style, where mud-plastered walls, wooden structures, natural materials, and colors are combined following principles of functional minimalism.

"We decided that the space showcasing artworks itself should become a sort of art object. Not to draw attention to itself, but rather to create the right context and atmosphere. This is a space about modern progressive Ukrainian identity rooted in deep tradition. And yes, it will be very photogenic," notes the project team.

The unveiling of the new interior of the People's House of Ukraine is scheduled to take place in the near future.
