Ukrainian-American technology company Swarmer and U.S. drone manufacturer Powerus have announced a strategic partnership aimed at integrating advanced swarm-control software into a range of unmanned systems.
The companies signed a memorandum of understanding that will see Swarmer's drone swarm management software integrated with unmanned aerial vehicles developed by Powerus, according to Defender Media.
The cooperation will also extend to testing the technology on future autonomous maritime platforms currently under development by the American company.
Based in Florida, Powerus is known for its xFold Dragon series of heavy-lift multicopter drones, which are available in three configurations. Beyond logistics platforms, the company develops reconnaissance and surveillance drones, FPV strike drones equipped with both radio-frequency and fiber-optic control systems, as well as interceptor drones designed to counter hostile unmanned aircraft.
Powerus is also pursuing autonomous maritime technologies, including the conversion of civilian and military vessels into unmanned platforms through the integration of proprietary software, sensors, and communications systems.
Under the partnership, Swarmer and Powerus plan to evaluate the effectiveness of coordinated operations involving large groups of drones. Initial testing will focus on scenarios such as countering hostile UAVs and protecting critical infrastructure through autonomous and semi-autonomous swarm operations.
The companies will also explore opportunities to scale production through Powerus' U.S.-based industrial facilities and supplier network. Such a move could potentially provide a pathway for broader deployment of Ukrainian-developed swarm technologies in North America and other international markets.
However, both parties emphasized that the memorandum currently serves as a declaration of intent rather than a binding commercial agreement. The document does not commit either company to joint manufacturing, procurement, or future purchases at this stage.
