The Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova, commented on the failed Senate vote regarding assistance to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.

In a Facebook post, Ambassador Markarova mentioned that the failure of this vote does not eliminate the possibility of reintroducing the bill in the near future.

She reminded that Republican senators, before the vote, stated that they couldn't support the bill unless it addressed the issue of the southern U.S. border and changes in immigration policy.

Markarova emphasized that the Ukrainian side will continue active efforts. She expressed hope that before Christmas, Congress will support a comprehensive package containing defense, budgetary, humanitarian, and energy assistance for Ukraine in 2024. The diplomat highlighted that senators assured Ukraine that the internal political events in the U.S. Congress would not affect the continued support for the country.

"What does this mean for Ukraine? In all meetings, senators assured us that today's vote is not against Ukraine. The domestic political events happening in the U.S. Congress will not affect the continuation of support for our country, which will be sustained due to bipartisan support. Therefore, we continue our active work with our colleagues, and based on very productive meetings these days, we hope that before Christmas, Congress will support a coordinated package that includes defense, budgetary, humanitarian, and energy assistance for Ukraine in 2024," added Markarova.
