Latvian aid to Ukraine has already exceeded 1.3% of Latvia's gross domestic product (GDP). Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs made this announcement during his speech at the general debates of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

"Latvia will support Ukraine as long as it is needed. Our assistance to Ukraine has already exceeded 1.3% of Latvia's GDP. Along with the private sector and civil society, we have sent humanitarian aid to regions in Ukraine. Latvia continues to provide refuge to Ukrainian citizens. We are also engaged in the rehabilitation of wounded Ukrainian military personnel and victims of sexual violence," emphasized Edgars Rinkēvičs.

He added that Latvia supports the Ukrainian peace formula.

"Ukraine has demonstrated tremendous resolve in exercising its right to self-defense against Russian aggression. I call on the international community to continue providing all necessary support to Ukraine and its people. The people of Ukraine will need comprehensive support for the country's reconstruction. It is crucial to lay the foundations for Ukraine's growth at this time," stated the Latvian head of state
