As a result of repatriation efforts, the bodies of 909 fallen defenders have been returned to Ukraine.
This was reported on Telegram by the Coordination Headquarters for the Handling of Prisoners of War. Among those returned, the fallen defenders came from the Kurakhiv, Pokrovsk, Bakhmut, Vuhledar, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia regions, as well as morgues located within Russian territory.
The fallen defenders were repatriated through the joint efforts of the Coordination Headquarters for the Handling of Prisoners of War, the Joint Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons in Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and other security and defense sector structures of Ukraine.
The Coordination Headquarters expressed gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for their assistance and gave special thanks to the personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who facilitated the transportation of the repatriated fallen heroes to designated state institutions and coordinated the handover to law enforcement and forensic medical experts.
Law enforcement investigators, in cooperation with expert institutions from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will work swiftly to identify the fallen individuals.
