On the night of March 17, 2025 (from 19:30 on March 16), the Russian forces launched an attack with 174 Shahed-type strike drones and various types of imitation drones from the following directions: Orel, Shatalovo, Kursk, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia).
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
As of 09:00, 90 Shahed-type strike drones and other types of drones have been confirmed as shot down in the Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Odessa regions.
70 imitation drones were lost in various locations (without negative consequences).
As a result of the Russian attack, the regions of Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv were affected.
