The Demining Capability Coalition plans to make its first 2025 procurements, worth over €30 million, to clear Ukrainian territories of explosive remnants of war.

This was announced during the 10th meeting of the coalition's working group, attended by Colonel Ruslan Berehulia, Head of the Main Department for Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety, alongside representatives of Ukraine’s State Special Transport Service Administration, Support Forces Command, and partner nations.

The coalition coordinator, Rolandas Kiškis from Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defense, visited Ukraine to discuss and finalize a 2025 development plan for demining capabilities, including a prioritized equipment procurement list.

Colonel Berehulia presented an update on current challenges in mine clearance, outlined development plans for 2025, and urged more countries to join the coalition. He thanked coalition members, including Lithuania, Iceland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland, for their contributions, which are already being utilized.

In 2024, the coalition provided Ukraine with demining equipment, NATO- and IMAS-standard training for specialists, and approved a roadmap for demining development through 2035. This year’s efforts continue to build on this foundation to enhance Ukraine’s demining capabilities.
