The European Union and its member states Sweden and Germany, within the "Team Europe" approach, have announced the allocation of €44 million to support civil society organizations (CSOs) in Ukraine.

This was reported by the EU Delegation to Ukraine.

It is stated that the EU is announcing a grant competition, which will begin in May 2025, in the amount of €14 million, provided for supporting CSOs, of which €5 million will be allocated to the development of gender leadership and conflict resolution strategies.

Additionally, Sweden and Germany are providing additional support in the amount of €17 million, while the EU is accelerating the provision of a support package of €13 million, which includes funding for direct grants for civil society projects, including in the areas of gender equality, accountability for war crimes, access to information, strengthening democratic processes, as well as social cohesion and sustainable development.

This aid package aims to strengthen the EU’s long-term strategy to enhance civil society in Ukraine, increase resilience to Russian aggression, and ensure that humanitarian and integration efforts reach those who need them most, the statement says.

It is emphasized that since the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022, the EU has allocated over €150 million to civil society organizations to support their critical work in humanitarian response, justice, democratic development, and governance. In 2022 alone, EU funding was tripled—from €20 million to €60 million—allowing civil society in Ukraine to receive support for directly responding to urgent needs.
