The gas transmission system operators of Poland and Ukraine have agreed to temporarily increase the level of guaranteed transmission capacity toward Ukraine from 6.4 to 12.4 million cubic meters per day. A portion of this additional capacity will be offered during the monthly auction for July 2025, which will take place on June 16.
At the initiative of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, the gas transmission operators held a series of technical consultations and studies aimed at identifying potential options for increasing gas transmission to Ukraine. The result was the conclusion of the aforementioned agreement.
"We are constantly working on diversifying supplies and expanding existing routes. This is an important decision, as the Polish route is one of the most crucial directions for gas imports into Ukraine," emphasized Ukraine’s Minister of Energy, German Galushchenko. "The importance of this route will only grow, as Poland’s gas transmission system provides access to diversified sources of natural gas, including liquefied natural gas from around the world."
To ensure stable capacity on a more permanent basis, Gaz-System is reconstructing the Hermanowice gas metering station. Earlier in May, the gas transmission operators also agreed to extend the offering of the current guaranteed capacity for the 2025/2026 gas year.
