This was stated in the message of the General Staff on Facebook. It is noted that yesterday, on December 18, during a routine inspection of premises, elements of equipment for gathering information were discovered at one of the locations.
"Listening devices were installed in the offices designated for the work of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the staff ensuring his activities. In order to establish the circumstances of the mentioned event, its consequences, and individuals involved, the Security Service of Ukraine has been informed."
The Security Service of Ukraine has initiated a criminal case regarding the discovery of a technical device in one of the potential locations of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny. The case has been opened under Article 359, Part 2 (illegal acquisition, sale, or use of special technical means of obtaining information) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The SSU emphasized that the equipment was not found directly in Valeriy Zaluzhny's office but in one of the rooms that could potentially be used by him in the future.
According to preliminary information, the discovered device was non-functional. No means of accumulating information or remote transmission of audio recordings were found. This technical device will be sent for examination.
