President of Ukraine Zelensky met with the Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Amy Pope, who is visiting Ukraine these days.
The Head of State thanked the Director General for her visit, which began in Mykolaiv and Odessa, and congratulated her on her recent assumption of office.
"We are grateful to IOM for helping Ukrainian families. Especially with housing. This is a top priority for those who have lost part of their lives to the war. We are counting on your continued support," said Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Ukrainian President praised IOM's assistance to communities affected by the Russian occupiers' destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric dam, reconstruction of housing for IDPs and support for establishing "Points of Invincibility" in various regions of Ukraine.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the main activities of the International Organization for Migration in Ukraine, in particular, helping IDPs to find jobs and supporting their mental health.
The President of Ukraine invited the International Organization for Migration to participate in the construction and arrangement of school shelters that will enable children to study safely.
After the meeting, agreements on cooperation between the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the International Organization for Migration and between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the IOM were signed in the presence of Volodymyr Zelensky.
The agreement, signed by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko and IOM Director-General Amy Pope, provides for cooperation in improving policies and legislation for the economic adaptation and recovery of micro and small enterprises displaced or affected by war. Special attention is given to businesses owned by displaced persons and veterans.
The document, signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba and Amy Pope, expands bilateral cooperation to restore the country's critical and social infrastructure, strengthen privacy and cybersecurity, and digitize migration and border management.
