The Luxembourg Red Cross has expanded its activities in Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, providing assistance to healthcare facilities.

"Since 2022, the Luxembourg Red Cross has been supporting the Irpin branch of the Heart Institute, which, like many buildings in the city, was severely damaged by shelling. At that time, the Luxembourg Red Cross, in partnership with the Ukrainian Red Cross, helped restore the damaged treatment buildings of the medical facility in the shortest possible time and resumed patient care," reported the Ukrainian Red Cross (URC) on Facebook on Tuesday.

The Luxembourg Red Cross also funded the purchase of modern industrial laundry equipment for the Heart Institute branch this year. In 2023-2024, the organization helped create a safe shelter. In the 32 m² basement of the Irpin Heart Institute, repairs were carried out, sanitary facilities were arranged, and a ventilation system with automatic and manual modes was installed. Additionally, the shelter is equipped with drinking water supplies, seating benches, backup lighting, and communication tools, allowing 30 people to comfortably stay there for 48 hours.

The Luxembourg Red Cross intends to continue providing assistance to the most vulnerable populations in Ukraine, responding promptly to urgent challenges caused by the war. Among the organization's priorities are supporting informational and educational activities on the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, tuberculosis, and diabetes.

The Luxembourg Red Cross will also continue to maintain close cooperation with the URC, government agencies, and local authorities.
