The Lviv Urban Forum will take place on June 27-29

The International Lviv Urban Forum will be held from June 27th to 29th, 2024, in Lviv. The theme of the forum is responsibility for the development and renewal of cities.

Among the speakers are over 30 planners and architects from around the world, including:

• Chilean architect and laureate of the Pritzker Prize, Alejandro Aravena
• Chief Planner of the British Government, Joanna Averley
• Swiss architect and founder of the architectural firm Christ & Gantenbein, Christoph Gantenbein
• Lithuanian architect and co-founder of the Do Architect bureau, Gilma Gylyte
• Founder of the Austrian studio Einszueins Architektur, Markus Zilker.
• Austrian architect and researcher in the sphere of urban design at the Vienna University, Andreas Hofer

The forum will discuss:

• Implementing principles and standards in planning and architecture to ensure the development of the built environment.
• Responsibility for researching local typologies.
• Transforming the formats of educational institutions from the Soviet era to modern educational spaces.

The event program includes practical workshops and educational excursions, during which participants can visit around ten locations and projects in Lviv. There will be opportunities to interact with their creators and developers, according to the event's organizers. In addition to lectures and discussions, the organizers will arrange walking and cycling urban tours of Lviv.

Over 400 representatives of local self-government bodies will participate in the event. Registration is paid for architects, urban planners, students, and interested individuals. Applications can be submitted via the provided link. The venue of the event will be communicated to participants personally.

The event is organized by the Department of Architecture and Spatial Development of the Lviv City Council and the project Cities 4 Cities | United 4 Ukraine.
