The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and NATO's Science and Technology Organization (STO) will coordinate scientific research in the military domain.

"Representatives of scientific institutions, military higher education establishments, as well as military units and institutions within the Ministry of Defense structure, will be involved in this work," stated Deputy Minister of Defense, Brigadier General of Justice Serhii Melnyk.

According to him, these representatives from military, educational, and scientific institutions will help develop a joint program of activities and participate in meetings of NATO's Science and Technology Board (STB).

"This provides an additional opportunity to enhance our efforts in the field of security and defense. The expertise of Ukrainian scientists, combined with the modern innovative approaches of specialists from NATO member states, is expected to yield high-quality results for mutual application during combat operations," commented Volodymyr Mirnenko, Director of the Department of Military Education and Science at the Ministry of Defense.

He added that the initiative involves not only military-technical and technological components but also the overall development of military science as a foundational domain of knowledge. This includes understanding the laws and nature of war, preparing armed forces and the state for war, as well as the forms and methods of conducting warfare.

STO is a NATO subsidiary body established to meet the scientific and technological needs of the Alliance and its partner nations through the exchange of scientific knowledge, technological advancements, and innovations.
