The Naftogaz group has begun installing solar panels on the roofs of hospitals in regions where the company's subsidiaries extract hydrocarbons.
This was reported by the press service of Naftogaz.
Together with the Committee on Energy and Housing and Utilities Services of the Ukrainian Parliament, Naftogaz initiated the Solar Energy for Hospitals project, which involves equipping medical facilities with solar power stations (SPS). The project finances the construction of SPS on the roofs of hospitals in areas where the group's enterprises operate.
"Healthcare facilities must be energy-autonomous and provide their own electricity. The availability of stable energy supply can sometimes mean the difference between life and death. We have already installed solar power stations on the roofs of medical institutions in Kharkiv, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions," said Oleksii Chernyshov, head of Naftogaz.
According to him, within the programme, nine hospitals will receive reliable backup power sources in case of electricity outages.
