On October 25, the Parliament of Wales supported a resolution recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. The Ukrainian Embassy in the United Kingdom announced this on social media X.
Ukrainian diplomats expressed their gratitude to the Senedd for the appropriate decision, stating,
"It’s a significant milestone in restoring historical justice and raising awareness about the millions of innocent victims!"
On the website of the Welsh Parliament, it is stated that "the Holodomor was a premeditated crime committed and orchestrated by Stalin and the Soviet government against the people of Ukraine."
"Wales regards the Holodomor as an act of genocide and continues to stand with the people of the Ukraine as they face Putin's illegal war," the statement further reads.
Currently, 30 countries around the world have recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. Italy had supported this decision before Wales.
