On Thursday, April 18, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed in the Latvian city of Ventspils between the Ventspils Freeport Authority and the Ukrainian state enterprise "Sea Commercial Port Chornomorsk." This was reported on the Ventspils Port website.

The memorandum outlines the development of partnership relations in the areas of logistics, transportation, cargo security, the implementation of sustainable technologies, staff training, and participation in international projects. The parties agreed to regular information exchange and joint planning of future initiatives.

The agreement will remain in effect for four years from the date of signing, with the possibility of extension by mutual consent.

The Port of Chornomorsk is one of Ukraine’s most important Black Sea ports, located near Odessa. Despite the challenges posed by Russia’s invasion, the port continues to operate and develop. It is a universal port handling various types of cargo, including containers and bulk cargo, and is the only port in Ukraine suitable for ferry operations. Chornomorsk is a strategically significant logistics hub that, even under wartime conditions, continues to ensure Ukraine’s connectivity with global markets and supports regional cooperation.
