As part of the G7 Summit in Italy, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with Pope Francis.

The President thanked His Holiness for his prayers for peace in Ukraine, spiritual closeness to our people and humanitarian aid to Ukrainians. 

 

 

The Head of State informed the Pontiff in detail on the consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine, Russian aerial terror and the difficult situation in the energy sector.

The parties also discussed the Peace Formula, the role of the Holy See in establishing a just and lasting peace for Ukraine, as well as expectations from the Global Peace Summit. Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the Vatican for participating in the event.

The President noted the efforts of the Vatican aimed at bringing peace, particularly the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.
