As part of the concept of Ukraine's recovery, we must honor the heroism of all those who defended their own state. Therefore, even now, without waiting for the end of the war, the state is forming a new veterans' policy. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated this during the VI International Veterans Forum 'Ukraine. Defenders. Future.'

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, took part in the online event, along with the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, government officials, parliamentarians, and international partners.

In his speech, the Prime Minister emphasized five key elements of the new veterans' policy. The first of these is the creation of infrastructure that will provide veterans with quality and effective services.

"We are starting with new approaches to the work of the Veterans Affairs Office and the Military Service Evaluation Commission. The principle of 'certificates following the military,' maximum digitalization, including electronic queues, involvement of as many civilian medical institutions as possible in this process. The result is an inclusive, comfortable, and transparent system without bureaucracy and corruption," Denis Shmyhal stressed.

In parallel, the Government is already forming the institution of a veteran's assistant. This is individual support for defenders in critically important matters. According to the Prime Minister, special structural units will operate under the Veterans Affairs Office, and service offices for veterans' affairs will be established at the local level. Their task is to coordinate the implementation of state, regional, and local support programs.
