On the night of March 4th to March 5th, 2024, the special unit "Group 13" of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine attacked the patrol ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the "Sergey Kotov".

The mission was conducted in collaboration with the Ukrainian Navy and with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

As a result of the strike by the maritime drones "Magura V5", the Russian ship of project 22160, the "Sergey Kotov", sustained damage to its stern, right, and left sides.

The naval engagement with the "Kotov" occurred in the territorial waters of Ukraine, near the Kerch Strait.

The cost of the sunken ship is estimated to be around 65 million dollars.

The "Sergey Kotov" is a modular patrol ship of project 22160. It is one of the newest ships in the Russian military navy. Launched in 2021, it became the fourth ship in the series, joining the ranks of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Its full deadweight is 1800 tons, crewed by 80 personnel, and it has a sailing autonomy of up to 60 days.

This is not the first ship of the Russian Federation destroyed by the "Magura V5" maritime drones. For instance, on the night of January 31 to February 1, Ukrainian reconnaissance units destroyed the missile boat "Ivanovets" of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, the "Ivanovets" boat was somewhat of a pride for the Russian fleet. There were only three units of such ships. It could carry up to 40 Russian sailors on board.

Moreover, near the shores of the occupied Crimea on February 14, the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed the Russian large landing ship "Caesar Kunikov."
