European Union countries have agreed to create the SAFE (Security Assistance for Europe) defence instrument, with a budget of €150 billion.

This decision lays the foundation for a new security system on the continent — one in which Ukraine holds official partner status, stated Ukraine’s Defence Minister Rustem Umerov.

“SAFE opens up new opportunities for joint defence projects, major investments, and the development of Europe’s industrial potential. And — most importantly — it recognises Ukraine’s defence industry as part of the future European security system,” emphasised the head of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry.

Ukraine has already proven its ability to produce battlefield game-changing solutions. The Ukrainian side is ready to share this experience to help make Europe stronger together.

In cooperation with its European allies, Ukraine will work on large-scale projects within the SAFE framework, particularly in the area of joint procurement.

“I thank the European Union, our friends and allies for their leadership and support. SAFE is a shared investment in the peace and strength of all Europe,” concluded Rustem Umerov.
