In the course of counter-subversive actions in the front-line areas of eastern Ukraine, the Security Service detained two Russian agents.
They gathered intelligence on the temporary deployment and movement of units of the Defense Forces in the territory of the Donetsk region, particularly in the Bakhmut direction.
Among the attackers' main tasks was identifying the positions of the Ukrainian combat units of Javelin anti-tank missile systems.
According to the investigation, the detainees are two residents of the Donetsk region, who FSB representatives recruited after the start of the full-scale invasion. According to the instructions of the occupiers, they were supposed to carry out reconnaissance and subversive activities near the front line.
It was established that the enemy henchmen were in contact with their Russian supervisors through a network of "liaisons" from the temporarily occupied territory of the region. They turned out to be several fighters of the "1st Army Corps" of the invaders.
The agents gave the information they received to a representative of the so-called "MDB" and the head of intelligence of one of the groups of the terrorist organization "DNR", who then "reported" to the FSB.
For communication, the attackers used closed electronic communication channels, and the collected intelligence was transmitted in the form of GPS coordinates with a description of the object.
The aggressor used the information obtained to prepare missile and artillery fire at the locations of the units of the Armed Forces.
Currently, both detainees have been notified of suspicion. The court chose a preventive measure for them in the form of detention.
Comprehensive measures are underway to bring to justice all persons involved in crimes against Ukraine.
The special operation to expose the Russian agents was carried out by SBU employees of Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office.
