Screenings of the special programme of the 12th Kyiv International Short Film Festival (KISFF) will take place in Kharkiv and Odessa throughout April.
This initiative aims to support the cultural life in cities that are experiencing daily shelling and significant destruction, as commented by the organizers.
8 thematic programmes are announced in Kharkiv, dedicated to topics such as Ukrainian identity, the role of women in a patriarchal society, self-reflection, and combating stereotypes. The programme will include stories about Kyiv and films from western Ukraine. Also featured in the programme are comedic short films and a selection of stories about the connection between humans and animals.
In Odessa, 8 thematic programmes will be showcased, exploring Ukrainian identity, self-reflection, and the nature of fear. This includes stories about Crimea and Kyiv, as well as a retrospective of four short films by David Lynch. The programme also features "Animated Horrors" and a children's programme about respecting loved ones, pets, and all living things, as announced by the organizers.
The main venue for screenings in Odesa will be "CinemaCity" at FontanSky Center. Educational events will take place at America House (1a Hretska Street)
Among other events, both cities will feature a block of KISFF award-winning films and Q&A sessions with Ukrainian directors presenting their works.
