The Security Service, in collaboration with the National Police, prevented the sale of weapons to criminal elements in the Poltava, Odessa, and Zhytomyr regions.
As a result of comprehensive measures, arms dealers trafficking trophy weapons illegally removed from former combat zones near the front line were apprehended.
Among the items seized from the suspects were Russian anti-tank grenade launchers, Kalashnikov rifles, and explosives.
In the Poltava region:
A criminal group attempting to sell a cache of combat grenades and automatic weapons was neutralized.
To find buyers, the individuals involved used personal connections within the criminal underworld.
SSU agents apprehended the organizer and two members of the gang attempting to sell combat weapons.
In the Odessa region:
A local resident was suspected of attempting to sell over half a kilogram of plastic explosive and devices for explosive substances.
Additionally, he tried to sell two combat grenades and nearly 5 meters of detonation cord.
In the Zhytomyr region:
Three arms dealers were exposed, offering clients a full arsenal of trophy weapons.
During searches of the suspects, a Kalashnikov rifle and a Russian-made reactive infantry flamethrower "Javelin" were confiscated. Over 20 combat grenades and a large quantity of ammunition for firearms were also discovered.
Investigations are ongoing into all discovered incidents to hold those responsible accountable.
The confiscated weapons are planned to be transferred for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Comprehensive measures were carried out by SSU agents in the Poltava, Odessa, and Zhytomyr regions in conjunction with the National Police under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office.
