The Security Service of Ukraine uncovers a Dnipropetrovsk enterprise aiding Russia in building nuclear laboratories.
Investigators revealed that the scheme was orchestrated by the owner of a Ukrainian construction materials company.
After the full-scale invasion began, representatives of the plant sent a large shipment of stainless steel profiles to Russia.
Russian forces used the Ukrainian metal products to equip facilities at their nuclear research institute, where they are developing new missile systems with nuclear warheads.
To conceal the international shipments, the perpetrators first exported the materials to a Middle Eastern company they controlled, which then re-exported them to Russian clients.
The company’s financial documentation was handled by the chief accountant of the Ukrainian enterprise.
Searches conducted at the company’s offices and the suspects’ residences uncovered mobile phones, computers, and documentation proving their criminal activities in favor of Russia.
Currently, the company owner and three of his subordinates have been charged under Article 111-2, Part 1, of Ukraine's Criminal Code (aiding the aggressor state).
The court is deliberating on pre-trial detention for the suspects, who face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
