The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), has unveiled a commemorative coin dedicated to the unique “Spider Web” special operation. The coin has a denomination of 5 hryvnias, with a planned circulation of 75,000 units in souvenir packaging.
“Issuing a coin that commemorates ‘Spider Web’ is a great honor for the entire SSU team involved in the operation. Our specialists have proven that no matter how far the enemy is, they cannot hide from just retribution. Our employees know how to act with surgical precision, striking where the enemy least expects it—and they will continue to do so,” said SSU Head Lieutenant General Vasyl Malyuk.
The obverse of the coin features the image of the Trojan horse with a truck silhouette behind it, symbolizing the covert transport of FPV drones into Russian territory and referencing the ancient Greek legend of cunning that allowed soldiers to enter an enemy city unnoticed.
The reverse shows a drone silhouette with a combat payload and the inscription “117 FPV DRONES,” representing the number of drones used in the operation. At the center is a mirrored silhouette of a large strategic aircraft, symbolizing the primary target of the strike.
“The Security Service of Ukraine once again demonstrated that Ukrainian courage, combined with intelligence and ingenuity, can achieve what may seem impossible. The ‘Spider Web’ operation was a severe blow to the enemy and a source of pride for our country. This coin symbolically engraves not only the fact of this unique operation but also our respect for the Ukrainian special service and the strength of the institution that tirelessly protects the nation every day—with precision and uncompromising dedication,” emphasized National Bank Head Andriy Pyshnyi.
The SSU’s “Spider Web” operation took place on June 1, 2025, during which FPV drones destroyed 41 military aircraft across four enemy airfields. Russia’s total losses exceeded $7 billion.
