Counterintelligence of the Security Service prevented new attempts by the aggressor to inflict fire damage on the deployment areas of the Armed Forces in the Sumy region.

As a result of comprehensive measures, an FSB agent who was preparing a series of airstrikes on the region, including the use of guided aerial bombs, was detained. The main targets were the defensive positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces within a 5-kilometer zone near the state border of Ukraine.

To accomplish the task, the perpetrator was supposed to identify the locations of Ukrainian troops, mark their coordinates on a map, and send the corresponding "reports" to the Russian forces. Primarily, she attempted to identify fortified positions and determine the locations of units of the Armed Forces. To do this, the Russian agent, disguised as an ordinary citizen, traversed the border area and covertly recorded "desired" objects on the camera of her own phone.

SSU officers documented the criminal actions of the perpetrator and apprehended her "in the act" as she attempted to conduct a new reconnaissance mission. Same time, comprehensive measures were taken to ensure the safety of personnel, equipment, and ammunition of the Ukrainian troops in the region.

According to the investigation, she turned out to be a local resident and an ideological supporter of Russian nationalism. After the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation began, she expressed anti-Ukrainian narratives on Russian social media platforms. Thus, she attracted the attention of the FSB and was later recruited by the Russian special service. Initially, the traitor spied for the Russian forces in the border area where she lived. However, after it was shelled by the Russian invaders, the woman, along with her fellow villagers, was evacuated to another settlement in the Sumy region. There she registered as an internally displaced person and planned, at the behest of the FSB, to continue gathering intelligence about the Armed Forces.

During the search of the detainee, mobile phones that she used to communicate with her Russian handler were seized. Currently, the investigators of the Security Service have informed her of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under conditions of martial law).

The perpetrator is in custody and faces life imprisonment.
