The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another FSB agent in Kharkiv. He turned out to be an employee of one of Ukraine's largest thermal power plants. The agent was preparing Russian airstrikes on the energy facility where he worked.
According to the case materials, the "mole" attempted to identify "gaps" in the local air defense system.
The Russian forces were particularly interested in the locations of base stations and the movement routes of mobile fire groups that protect the airspace around the thermal power plant.
To obtain coordinates, the traitor would patrol the area near the energy facility and use his mobile phone to record potential locations of Ukrainian defenders.
At the same time, the agent was gathering information for the FSB on the aftermath of previous attacks on the thermal power plant and the results of recovery operations.
The SSU employees detected the "mole" in time, documented his crimes, and apprehended him "red-handed" while he was spying in the facility's technological rooms.
According to the investigation, the suspect came to the FSB's attention due to his anti-Ukrainian comments in Telegram channels.
During searches, a mobile phone with evidence of his work for the Russian forces was seized from the detainee.
The criminal is in custody and faces life imprisonment with property confiscation.
