Military counterintelligence of the Security Service prevented a Russian sabotage operation against the command of the Defense Forces on the southern front.

As a result of the special operation, an FSB agent who attempted to fatally poison the commanders of a Ukrainian military unit in Zaporizhzhia region was detained.

The perpetrator turned out to be an active serviceman in the Ukrainian army. To commit the crime, he planned to add a poisonous substance to the water supply of the laundry complex used by the command staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

SSU officers uncovered the traitor's connection to the Russian special services in advance and meticulously documented his subversive activities against Ukraine. This enabled a series of measures to be taken to ensure the safety of Ukrainian defenders and led to the arrest of the FSB agent in the preparation stage of his sabotage.

Furthermore, during the investigation, the Security Service established that the perpetrator had another task: to gather intelligence for the FSB on the locations and movements of Ukrainian military units on the front line.

According to the investigation, the individual was recruited through his parents, who reside in the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk region.

The invaders abducted the man's relatives directly from their residence and then imprisoned them in a local Russian torture chamber. There, the victims were subjected to severe torture, demanding that they persuade their son to work for the aggressor country.

Subsequent communication between the traitor and his Russian "handler" took place through an anonymous chat in a messenger app. During the search of the detainee, a mobile phone used for communication with the Russian forces was seized.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators informed him of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under conditions of martial law).

Currently, the perpetrator is in custody, facing life imprisonment.
