The Security Service of Ukraine has neutralized another agent group of Russian special services in Mykolaiv. As a result of comprehensive measures, the SSU detained four members of the Russian forces cell who were adjusting missile and drone strikes on the city.
The investigation revealed that the priority targets for the Russian forces were backup command points and logistics warehouses of the Defense Forces engaged in combat on the southern front.
To gather coordinates for targeted strikes, the agents individually patrolled streets and surrounding areas of the regional center, photographing potential locations of Ukrainian troops.
They also tracked the stops and maintenance locations of military equipment from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard moving to the front line.
The collected information was sent via messenger to their contact— "war correspondent" Serhiy Lebedev (codename Lokhmatyi), who is hiding in Donetsk and works for the FSB and military intelligence (GRU).
The SSU uncovered the agent group, documented their crimes, and detained them at their residences. Simultaneously, comprehensive measures were taken to secure Defense Forces locations.
According to the investigation, all four suspects came to the attention of Russian intelligence when they posted pro-Kremlin comments on Lokhmatyi's Telegram channel.
During searches, mobile phones with evidence of their collaboration with the Russian forces were seized.
The criminals are in custody. They face between 12 years and life imprisonment with asset confiscation.
Investigative actions continue to hold all individuals involved in the operation of the FSB agent group accountable.
