The counterintelligence service of the Security Service of Ukraine has detained an FSB agent who operated in Mykolaiv and Odessa. He was preparing coordinates for missile and drone strikes on both cities and was forming a new intelligence network for the aggressor country.

According to the case materials, the suspect turned out to be a military pensioner from Mykolaiv who had come under the Russia' radar during his trips to Russia even before the full-scale war began.

After the onset of the full-scale invasion, the man was contacted remotely by a professional FSB officer who offered him cooperation. In exchange for assisting the Russians, the man was promised "evacuation" to Russia along with a resolution of his financial issues.

Under the direction of the Russian intelligence officer, the agent was tasked with scouting the locations of the Defense Forces, where the Russians planned to carry out airstrikes using kamikaze drones of the Shahed type and missile weaponry.

The traitor also conducted reconnaissance at the sites of "hits" to inform the FSB about the consequences of Russian attacks.

To expand the FSB's intelligence capabilities and obtain additional intelligence data, the suspect sought out "candidates for new agents of the Russian Federation." He attempted to covertly use his acquaintances—former law enforcement officers—by inquiring about the sentiments of current employees during casual conversations.

SSU counterintelligence documented the agent's crimes and detained him at his place of residence. During the searches, SIM cards and two mobile phones were confiscated from him, one of which he used for covert communication with the Russian forces.

The investigators of the Security Service have notified the suspect of his charges under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed in a state of war). The perpetrator is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
