The U.S. states of Washington, Maryland, and Arizona have recognized the Holodomor in Ukraine in 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people and declared November as a month of remembrance for this tragedy," announced the Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S., Oksana Markarova, on social media.

Markarova expressed her gratitude to the states and their governors for the "proclamation recognizing the Ukrainian Holodomor as a genocide" and "drawing attention to the genocide committed by the Soviet/Russian regime."

She noted that today, Ukrainians are "defending themselves against the same Russian aggressors."

According to her, more than 30 U.S. states have issued similar proclamations recognizing the Holodomor as a genocide.
