Ukrainian developers from the studio STELLARIUM.gaming have released the first trailer announcing their game "Famine Way" ("Голодний Шлях"). They dedicated it to the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor.

"Famine Way" is a 2D game in an original hand-drawn style, set against the backdrop of the Holodomor in Ukraine during 1932-1933. The player is tasked with helping little Olena and her stork companion overcome a challenging journey in search of their relatives. The developers estimate that completing Famine Way will take approximately 2–3 hours.

The developers have recently opened the Famine Way page on the Steam platform. For each addition of the game to the wishlist until the release, STELLARIUM.gaming promises to light a candle in memory of the victims of the Holodomor.

According to the developers, the idea to create a game about the Holodomor came spontaneously. In the summer of 2023, they worked on the narrative and mechanics, researching eyewitness accounts. In September, a new development team gathered, and the development process of Famine Way began.

"The theme of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 was silenced and ignored until recently. One of the goals of Famine Way is to bring the issues of this tragedy to the global gaming community. Against the backdrop of the full-scale war with Russia, the process of recognizing the Holodomor as an act of genocide has intensified by many countries, and it should continue, as everyone should know about the terror of the Soviet Union against humanity and the Ukrainian people," says the announcement from the creators of Famine Way.

The project is being developed on the Unity engine. Currently, the game development team at STELLARIUM consists of over 30 individuals, with most participants scattered across various regions of Ukraine and beyond.
