The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will submit a bill to the Verkhovna Rada for the ratification of the Framework Agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom. The agreement aims to strengthen the defense capabilities of both countries.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this, stating:
"Under this agreement, the United Kingdom will provide us with up to £2 billion for the purchase of air defense systems, missiles for air defense, as well as for the establishment of repair bases for military equipment and other weaponry."
According to Shmyhal, such bases will also be located in Ukraine. The allocated funds will significantly enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
The funding will be directed toward strengthening air defense, as well as the repair and production of modern weapons and military equipment.
“We thank the United Kingdom for this vital support. Thanks to it, Ukraine will receive critical weaponry in the short term to protect our skies and the country as a whole,” emphasized Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
To ensure transparency and the effective use of funds, a joint commission comprising representatives from both governments will be established to oversee the targeted use of the loan.
