The House Intelligence Committee held a secret meeting where they received information about the critical need to provide military assistance to Ukraine.
This was reported by the committee's account on the social media platform X.
"We must pass Ukraine aid now. Today, in a classified briefing, our Cmmittee was informed of the critical need to provide Ukraine military aid this week. The United States must stand against Putin' war of aggression now as UKraine's situation on the gound is critical," the post reads.
The statement is endorsed by committee members, Republican Mike Turner and Democrat Jim Himes.
Earlier, House Speaker Mike Johnson proposed splitting the previously supported Senate bill on aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. His idea involves a package of four separate bills, with the fourth being a document outlining U.S. national security priorities, including provisions for providing assistance to Ukraine in the form of loans and using frozen Russian assets.
President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized Johnson's initiative.
