New home for 23 children, 15 new kindergartens, schools, sports complexes - 2020 in Odessa region declared the year of the child
The head of the Odessa regional state administration Maksym Kutsyi told about the Children's Day about all the initiatives carried out in the region for the social support of families, children and youth. He stressed that 2020 has been declared the Year of the Child and Family in Odessa Region.
"This year, 23 children have already found a new family and a new home. Over the past six months, 7 foster families have been established in the region. 3 more families are at the stage of registration of documents. In addition, we have already managed to create 4 family-type orphanages. The Odesa Regional State Administration also helped to purchase 13 apartments for orphans and the 1st DBST, âMaksym Kutsyi emphasized.
According to him, the new leadership of the regional Service for Children operates on the basis of deinstitutionalization. That is, the priority is not boarding schools and shelters, but foster families and family-type orphanages.
He said that before the start of quarantine in the region, 505 children aged 7 to 17 were rehabilitated. And with the easing of quarantine in the summer, the practice of improving the health of children at recreation centers and sanatoriums was resumed.
During the quarantine period, almost 10,000 families were provided with medicines, food and hygiene products with the support of the Odessa Regional State Administration. It was also organized payment of child benefits to 55 entrepreneurs of the first and second groups of single tax payers in the amount of UAH 170.5 thousand.
The head of the regional state administration also stressed that due to timely sanitary and preventive measures, there are no children in orphanages with suspicion or disease of COVID-19.
He stressed that the priority remains the creation of quality and comfortable education in the region. That is why 5 schools and 5 kindergartens are being built in Odesa region in different districts of the region. All objects are planned to be handed over this year. Schools are being built in Bilyaivka, Avangard, Stavrovo, Zakharivka and Shevchenkovo. Kindergartens - in Avangard, Usatovo, Ovidiopol, Izmail and Kryzhanivka.
He also said that currently 10 school buses (including for children with disabilities) and 1,510 computers have been purchased for schools. 6 inclusive resource centers have opened in Molozha, Kiliya, Bolgrad and Odesa. The network of inclusive classes in 394 educational institutions with 1,348 children has been expanded.
Playgrounds for children's active recreation are also being created in the region. 5 sports complexes are already being built in Odessa region: in Yuzhny, Usatovo, Kodyma, Hradenytsia and Shevchenkiv.
