The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is once again on the verge of a blackout due to the disconnection at 10:06 of the fourth power transmission line Zaporizhzhia TPP - Ferroalloy Plant as a result of Russian shelling, the press service of the National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom reported.
Currently, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe is connected to the country's power grid only through the "Dniprovka" power transmission line, the operation of which was recently restored by Ukrainian energy workers.
"This once again threatens the onset of an emergency situation at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP, as in the event of the disconnection of this - the last - line connecting to the Ukrainian power grid, the station will be on the verge of another blackout, which is a serious violation of the conditions for its safe operation," stressed the National Nuclear Energy Generating Company.
"The Zaporizhzhia NPP must immediately come under the full control of Ukraine, its rightful operator - 'Energoatom,' and Russia must withdraw its military personnel and military equipment from the station," the company stated.
As reported, since the beginning of the Russian occupation, the Zaporizhzhia NPP has experienced 8 complete blackouts and one partial blackout - with the activation of emergency diesel generators and safety systems. Their failure threatens the onset of an emergency situation.
