Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Israeli Finance Ministry Minister Zeev Elkin, who arrived in Ukraine with an Israeli delegation to mark the 85th anniversary of the Nazi mass shootings at Babyn Yar.
“The anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy is important for all of us and for our history. It must never be forgotten. Thank you for your visit,” the president said.
Zeev Elkin thanked Zelensky for the invitation and the opportunity to take part in the commemorative events.
The president stressed that Russia was attempting to make these days of remembrance particularly difficult for people in Ukraine through aerial attacks and continued drone strikes.

“Of course, Iran provided Russia with the technology to produce these jet-powered Shahed drones, and it used essentially the same weapons to strike Israel,” Zelensky said.
During the meeting, the parties discussed these and other threats, as well as the situation in the Middle East more broadly. According to Zelensky, stronger relations between Ukraine and Israel could contribute to the security of both countries.
Israeli Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Roey Rosenblit and Israel’s Honorary Consul in Lviv Oleg Vyshniakov also attended the meeting.
