Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Koretskyi met with Prime Minister of Moldova Vasile Tofan in Kyiv today.
"Ukraine and Moldova are moving towards the EU together. Ukraine's accession to the EU is important for Moldova's security, just as Moldova's accession is important for Ukraine's security. Coordinated integration makes sense not only from a security perspective but also economically," the Prime Minister said.
"We are strengthening regional security: we have signed an agreement on military-technical cooperation. It will reinforce our joint efforts to counter Russian threats."
Serhiy Koretskyi expressed his gratitude for the discounts on rail freight transport agreed upon in response to Russian attacks in the Black Sea.
"Together with Moldova, we are ready to expand joint border controls to two more crossing points. We will sign the relevant agreement in the near future," the Ukrainian Prime Minister announced. "We value our energy partnership, particularly the agreements on gas transit through the Trans-Balkan Corridor. Ukrainian gas storage facilities are already being used by Moldovan companies."
During the meeting, the two sides agreed to resume the work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and revive the Odessa Triangle format, which brings together Ukraine, Moldova and Romania.
"We plan to hold the first meeting of the Odessa Triangle at the level of prime ministers," Serhiy Koretskyi emphasised. "I thank Mr Tofan and the Government of Moldova for their consistent support for Ukraine."
