Ukraine "appreciates the efforts" of the president of Brazil to stop Russian aggression but "does not trade its territories"

Ukraine criticized the statement of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who suggested that Kyiv negotiate with Moscow and abandon plans to return Crimea.

"There are no legal, political or moral reasons why we should give up even a crumb of Ukrainian land," said the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleg Nikolenko.

Nikolenko also noted that although Ukraine "appreciates the efforts" of the Brazilian president to stop Russian aggression, it "does not trade its territories." He added that his country's position remains unchanged and any negotiations on ending the war should be based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine following the principles of the UN Charter.

On Thursday, during a press conference, Lula said that "perhaps it is worth discussing Crimea" and "Zelensky cannot want everything." "The world needs peace," he added. At the same time, he emphasized that, in his opinion, the remaining territories annexed by Russia should remain in Ukraine.
