Ukraine has hosted, for the first time, a meeting of the working group of member states of the Mine Action Capabilities Coalition — an international platform that coordinates support for Ukraine in both combat and humanitarian demining. The event brought together 43 delegates from 14 countries and four international organizations.
Colonel Ruslan Berehula, Head of the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety, emphasized that holding the meeting in Ukraine was of strategic importance. Delegations were able to see the Coalition’s results directly at project sites involved in demining operations, personnel training, and technical support.
Partners were also presented with two 2026 Capability Development Implementation Plans for the State Special Transport Service and the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Participants discussed equipment supply and procurement for 2025–2026 and reviewed the capacities of the demining units of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces. It was noted that by the end of 2025, Ukraine plans to establish initial capabilities — training and equipping eight modern demining battalions, enabling more than 450 teams to operate effectively in extremely challenging conditions.
Additional data highlighted during the meeting:
- About 3,990 specialists have received training with support from the EU Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine, Tetra Tech (USA), Mriya Aid (Canada), and Spain.
- Equipment worth over €408 million has been provided by partners including Germany, Lithuania, Denmark, Slovakia, Finland, Iceland, Tetra Tech (USA), UNOPS (funded by the Netherlands), and Mriya Aid (Canada).
- More than €111 million in equipment has been procured using contributions from Lithuania, Sweden, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, and Denmark — including off-road vehicles, ambulances, demolition machines, personal anti-drone devices, night-vision systems, counter‑UAS systems, metal detectors, trucks, EOD kits, APCs, mine rollers, and more.
