The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has ordered 35mm ammunition for Gepard air defense systems from the German company Rheinmetall.

This was reported on the company's official website.

According to Rheinmetall, the order was confirmed in December 2024. It includes the production of 180,000 HEI-T (high-explosive incendiary tracer) rounds.

While the exact value of the contract has not been disclosed, the company noted that it amounts to a double-digit figure in millions of euros. The German government will finance the order, and Rheinmetall plans to begin its execution only in 2026.

It should be noted that this new order supplements a previous contract for the supply of 300,000 Gepard rounds to Ukraine.

The production of these munitions is carried out at Rheinmetall's facility in Unterlüß, Lower Saxony, where production was rapidly launched in 2023.

To date, Germany has supplied Ukraine's Armed Forces with 57 Gepard air defense systems, with an additional 13 expected to be delivered soon.
